Supporters of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM, in the North West region have rallied support for the CPDM candidate, Paul Biya, in the upcoming October 12 Presidential Election.
In a mega rally in Bamenda to launch the regional campaigns, the CPDM supporters described candidate Paul Biya as the best candidate to preserve the peace and democracy that Cameroonians enjoy today.
In his keynote address during the regional launch of the CPDM campaign for the North West region, the CPDM coordinator for the North West Region, former Prime Minister Philemon Yang described President Paul Biya as “the most qualified” candidate amongst the 12 candidates running.
Yang Philemon outlined the achievements of the CPDM candidate and qualified him as the candidate of experience and wisdom, visionary, a man of dialogue, promoter of national unity, women’s and youth’s rights, great nation builder, a democrat that brought in multipatism, and a nationalist and humanists at the same time.
The CPDM coordinator for the North West also presented the opposition as spending its time castigating President Paul Biya and his age, adding we are “not here about age, we are here to talk about qualities, competences and abilities”.
“Criticizing the president is not a project, is not a plan, is not selling us a dream” he said, adding that “our constitution allows that every candidate should be judged on the basis of their quality and competences”.
PM Yang described the CPDM candidate as the only one who has the future of Cameron at best. Paul Biya he continued is the best candidate to continue with the decentralization process, promote cultural, artistic and sporting development and our influence in the world.
The campaign launch ended with a motion of support for President Biya to lead the party to the polls.
The campaign will next move to the 34 council areas of the North West Region as from Sunday September 28.
Beside the different top militants, the launching was massively attended by grassroot militants, indicating great mobilisation by the CPDM in the North West region who are determine to give the CPDM candidate another mandate.
